Terms and Conditions of Entry
Eligibility
The Australian Food Media Awards 2010 are open to all food communicators throughout Australia. You do not need to be a member of the Australian Association of Food Professionals to enter these Awards.
- Food journalists, authors, producers, broadcasters, presenters, food bloggers and advertisers are eligible.
- Authors or creators must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia to be eligible.
- Where applicable, the work must have been commissioned in Australia.
- The work must have been published in Australia before publication in any other country.
- The work must be a new, original piece. Revised editions are not eligible.
- Authors, publishers, presenters, producers or agents may submit entries. To avoid duplication of entries, entrants should check whether their publishers or producers intend to enter their work.
- Works of joint authorship or creativity are eligible, this being defined as joint responsibility by two or more authors for the entire text or two or more individuals for the creative communication. If a joint entry is awarded a prize, each author or creator will receive a trophy or certificate, as applicable for the nominated category, and in the case of a winning entry, an equal share of the category's prize money.
Eligibility Dates
Only work published or broadcast in Australia between 1 July, 2008 and 30 June, 2010 is eligible for entry in the 2010 Awards.
Categories
- Entrants are entitled to submit each entry in one category only.
- The Australian Food Media Awards Program Committee reserves the right to change the category in which an entry is submitted after consultation with the entrant.
Deadline
- Entries must be received by last mail on Thursday, 22 July, 2010.
- No late entries will be accepted, nor will entries sent by facsimile or email.
- Entries are not valid until payment has been received.
Entry Forms
- Each entry must be accompanied by an official Entry Form. Download the form here.
- The nominated author or creator of the work, who thereby agrees to abide by the Terms and Conditions of Entry, must sign the Entry Form. If not the author or creator of the work, the entry form must be signed and a declaration made by the person making the nomination on behalf of the author or creator as to their eligibility.
- A fee of $66 (including GST) applies to each entry. Cheques must be made payable to Australian Association of Food Professionals.
Entry Requirements
- Three copies of each entry are required for distribution to the category's three judges (this includes books, photographs, CDs, video tapes or DVDs, features, leaflets, etc) with an entry form attached to each copy, plus the original for filing purposes.
- All material is to be clearly marked and well packaged.
Specific Entry Requirements
Books: The date of first publication offered for general sale must fall within the eligibility dates for the 2010 Awards. The work must be a new, original piece, not a rearrangement of previously published material or recipes. Revised editions are not eligible. Soft-cover editions of books previously published in hard covers are not eligible.
Magazines: The entered work must have been prepared and published within a magazine for distribution and sale.
- Entrants may submit one entry only, in its appropriate magazine division.
- An entry will comprise three different recipe features published within the period of eligibility.
- The recipe features must comprise tear sheets, not whole magazines with the features flagged.
- Entrants must supply a brief description of the magazine's target market and supply its readership demographic with their entry.
Photographs: Entrants in the Best Food Stylist/Best Food Photographer category must supply three copies (tear sheets or colour photocopies) of the published photographs, plus three colour prints (not photocopies), or CDs with JPG files, of the original photographs.
Television and Radio: The entry must have been made in and broadcast in Australia within the eligibility dates identified.
- Television: Three copies on video cassette tapes (VHS) or DVDs are required.
- Radio: Three copies on audio cassette tapes or CDs are required.
Websites: The website's primary content must be food or food and wine. The website URL and website name must be supplied, plus three clear copies of the home page for ready reference. If an individual article published on a website is entered in any category other than “Best Food-based Website", three print copies of the article must be supplied.
Blogs: The blog's primary content must be food or food and wine. Entrants must submit print copies of three articles and their links, uploaded within the period of eligibility, for judging (i.e. three sets of the three articles; see point 2 in Entry Checklist, above). The blog's URL and website name must be supplied,
plus three clear copies of the home page for ready reference.
Print Advertisement: If an entry in the Best Food Print Advertisement category is part of an ongoing campaign, three sets of the entire campaign must be submitted. The print advertisement must have been reproduced in an Australian publication within the 2010 eligibility dates.
Judging
- There will be only one winning entry and one runner-up (Highly Commended) in each category, unless otherwise indicated. If necessary, these may be awarded to joint recipients.
- The judges reserve the right to recommend that awards be withheld in any category if no entries are deemed to have sufficient merit.
- The judges' decisions will be final and no discussion or correspondence will be entered into.
Other Conditions
- All entries become the property of the Australian Association of Food Professionals.
- Names of winners and winning works may be published on the AAFP website and in other material pertaining to the Australian Food Media Awards, including public exhibits, now and in the future.
- Entries may be withdrawn but entry fees are non-refundable.
- Each entrant takes full responsibility for representations made.
- Each entrant shall be liable for any damage resulting from any inaccurate, misleading or false representations made.
- Breach of conditions of entry will render an entry invalid, whether prospectively or retrospectively.
Presentation Dinner
All entrants are encouraged to attend the Presentation Dinner, which will be held on 28 October, 2010. All costs associated with entering the Awards and attending the Awards Presentation Dinner are the responsibility of the entrants.
What you need to do to enter
All material is to be clearly marked and well packaged. Elaborate presentation of entries is not necessary and will not affect the judges' decisions.
Entries mounted on display boards, in particular, create difficulties in storage and transportation to and from
individual judges.
Only work published, broadcast or uploaded in Australia between
1 July, 2008 and 30 June, 2010
is eligible for entry in the 2010 Awards.
Entries close on Thursday, 22 July, 2010.
Entry checklist
- Submit each entry in one category only.
- Three copies of the entry are required for distribution to the category's three judges (this includes books, photographs, CDs, video tapes or DVDs, features, leaflets, etc). If an individual article published on a website is entered in any category other than “Best Food-based Website", three print copies of the article must be supplied.
- Complete the Entry Form. The Entry Form must be signed by the nominated author or creator of the work (see above).
- A completed Entry Form must be attached to each of the three copies of your entry (you may photocopy the Entry Form or download extras from www.foodprofessionals.org.au), plus the original for filing purposes.
- Enclose the entry fee. A fee of $66 (including GST) applies to each entry. Cheques must be made payable to Australian Association of Food Professionals. Send the entry to the address shown on the Entry Form.
